April Marie is a freelance and commissioned artist known for her versatility across traditional and contemporary styles, including alla prima painting and modern abstract expression. Entirely self-taught in her early years, April’s artistic journey began unconventionally—she was not raised within the art world and instead pursued academic and professional paths in business, earning a Bachelor's degree from Kansas State University and an MBA from the University of Phoenix in San Diego.
In 2010, while working at a private investment firm, she enrolled in a few painting classes to nurture her creative spirit. What started as a casual exploration quickly evolved into a calling. After sharing her early works with friends and family, she was soon approached for commissions, revealing a latent talent that surprised even her.
A serendipitous encounter led her to the studio of master painter Jeffery Pollack in Little Italy, San Diego, where she formally studied Old Masters techniques. It was here that her technical foundation deepened and her signature style began to emerge—a blend of classical influence and intuitive, emotionally charged expression. Her time at the studio also fostered a strong artistic community that continues to inform her practice.
Today, April Marie’s work is held in private collections and commissioned by clients drawn to her ability to balance structure and spontaneity, tradition and individuality. Her passion for painting remains a constant, a soulful drive that continues to guide her creative path.
